Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

A cat looking at a window

"If you didn’t know, sororities were created during a time in which colleges were still segregated. This, unfortunately, caused many individuals of color to be excluded from Greek life. Overtime the racial discrimination in Greek life has dwindled from the extent that it once was, but even today the issue still remains. Diversity is what makes a strong sisterhood. In recruitment, I was drawn to Alpha Chi Omega because no two sisters looked or acted the same. As VP Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion I work to uphold this ideal, ensuring that all future sisters have the same impression of Alpha Chi Omega that I once did. I make infographics for both the AXO Instagram and the sister’s personal Instagrams to spread awareness on a variety of issues. Also, we host workshops to help educate the chapter on implicit bias, tokenism in recruitment, microaggressions, etc. Being a real strong woman means that we are dedicated to inclusion, regardless of race, class, and sexual orientation."
